The Canton Educators Association (CEA) represents the approximately 400 classroom teachers, special educators, specialists, counselors, school psychologists, behavior analysts, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, educational assistants, ABA tutors, and school nurses in the public schools of Canton, Massachusetts. We encompass 6 schools: Canton High School, William H. Galvin Middle School, Dean S. Luce Elementary School, John F. Kennedy Elementary School, Lt. Peter M. Hansen Elementary School, and the Marilyn G. Rodman Early Childhood Center.
The Canton Educators Association is affiliated with the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) and the National Education Association (NEA).
As stated in the CEA Constitution, the purposes of the Association are:
- To maintain and improve the quality of education for all.
- To uphold high professional standards and to advance the socio-economic well-being of educators.
- To enable members to speak with a common voice on matters pertaining to teaching and to present individual and common interests before the School Committee and other legal authorities.
- To engage in any other related activities as are consistent with the law.
YOU are the union.
Let us work together to respect our contractual obligations and build solidarity. Read your contract. Ask questions. Share ideas. Solve problems. Get involved. Become a Building Representative to advocate for the interests of members in your building.
The Canton Educators Association Executive Council consists of the 6 elected officers and the elected building representatives at each school. We meet once a month to make decisions about how to spend our members’ dues, working conditions, as well as other issues that affect all of us. Any member is welcome to attend any or all of the Executive Council meetings to get involved or to voice concerns, ask questions, or to provide information. We are all committed to working together for a strong, healthy, respectful working and learning environment.
Our working conditions are our students’ learning conditions.
If you have a question or a concern about a particular issue in your own building, start by speaking with your building representative.
Welcome new members!
We extend a warm welcome to our newest members in both Unit A and Unit E. We hope that as you settle in to your new role in the Canton Public Schools, you will find time both to explore all the benefits of being a member of the CEA and to get involved with making our union strong.
