Review of Meeting Minutes from April 22, 2020

Motion made to accept minutes from April 22, seconded, and voted in favor unanimously

Vice President

Secretary

    • Elections moved to September
    • Summer coverages – Mentor Steering

 

  • Motion made to reschedule election back to May 2020 via digital platform, seconded, and voted in favor unanimously

 

  • Mentor Steering recruitment (New Hire trainings)
    • Confirm with Admin about their summer plan

 

Treasurer

  • Budget update, currently $60,000
    • $7,000 to Scholarships
    • Approx. $27,000 going to payroll
    • Approx. $24,000 balance
    • Negotiations Committee members will receive their $500 stipend
    • COVID-19 team members will receive $500 stipend as well
    • $50,000 invested in CD

Mentor Steering

Scholarship

  • CTA Scholarship
    • 12 applicants
    • $6,000 total to be paid out to CTA members’ families
  • Future Educator Scholarship, 1 x $1,000
    • 9 applicants, many very strong
    • Recipient has been named and sent to Anne Murray
    • Virtual ceremony to be held
      • Optional: paragraph or video describing the Scholarship and its meaning to be included
      • Submissions due by end-of-the-day Friday, 5/15

 

NCTA

  • Dues increasing from $8 to $12

 

Old Business

  • MTA Annual Meeting of Delegates
    • Mery Najimy and Max Page reelected to serve a second 2-year term together as President and Vice President, respectively
    • $3 dues increase coming
  • Technology budget set
    • Nothing new coming
  • Zoom expectations
    • Julie Shore’s newsletters should have clear language of expectations

 

New Business

  • Furloughs
    • Sharon has been talking about possibly furloughing some school employees
  • Reduction in Force
    • Seniority
  • Social Distancing in classroom
    • Subcommittee will be needed to work on re-entry plan, especially PreK-2

    • Janitors at Hansen
    • Teachers at Luce – each grade level will be scheduled for a day next week
  • Building access inequities
    • Some buildings teachers can go in with notice, some cannot at all
  • Summer school plans – Rodman?
  • Notice for Non-professional status staff is June 15
  • Staff meetings/PD requirements
    • Whole staff meetings on top of Dept. and/or grade level meetings
    • EAs being assigned PD with optional forms
